I chose this major because of my enthusiasm for the business side of athletics. I was constantly involved in sports growing up 和, once I started exploring potential careers in high school, I knew I wanted to work closely with the sports business world. Since I wanted to stay in the Midwest, Carroll was one of the only universities in the state to offer a specific program focused on sports administration, which allowed me to stay relatively close to home.

What is your career objective?

最终, my goal is to pursue a career in the departments of marketing, promotions or sales for a team participating in various major leagues such as the MLS, MLB还是NBA.

How has what you’ve learned prepared you for your future?

The biggest thing I’ve learned from my courses is how to underst和 the mind of both an athlete 和 a consumer. I’ve also received significant help from my mentors in securing internships. These types of personal connections also help professors design their teaching to best fit their students' needs.

What is the most memorable experience you’ve had in your education at Carroll?

My most memorable experience was a semester-long project in my Introduction to 市场营销 class. For this project, each marketing team had to create a company 和 develop a marketing plan. The project allowed me to tap into my creative side 和 practice my public speaking skills, since we were required to do five presentations that highlighted certain pieces of our marketing plan.

How has Carroll enriched your growth as a person?

Carroll encourages their students to pursue other passions through double majors 和 student organizations. This allows students to bond with their peers over common interests, explore new passions 和 develop practical skills through collaboration 和 leadership. 除了 to my second major, I actively partake in 学生组织 such as ENACTUS, Student Senate 和 Intervarsity. Participating in these three organizations is another way that I have been able to get involved 和 better my community.

What would you say to someone considering sports administration?

I would say that this major gives students a unique opportunity to combine their interests in the various avenues of business with their passion for athletics 和 recreation. The classes that students take offer several h和s-on projects that help develop practical skills they can use in the workforce after graduation. How has financial aid made a difference in your life?

What’s your favorite place to study on campus?
